Eco Fair: Shanghai Goes Green

Get your green on Saturday and Sunday at the fifth Eco Design Fair. With 65 companies involved, including Mothercare and Greenspace, this will be the biggest yet.

Jiashan Market, a new industrial-complex-turned-retail-development on Shaanxi Lu, is hosting the two-day event which includes how-to workshops, a sustainable fashion show and an eco-market, packed with organics, tote bags made of milk cartons, bamboo-yarn knits and more.

HIGHLIGHTS:


Kids and natural parenting corner (all weekend)

Bringing the ankle-biters? Join in the scavenger hunt, or get fingernails dirty with a workshop on composting with worms. 

 

 

 

 

 

Marketplace (all weekend)

Expect an array of environmentally-friendly and innovative goods, plus fresh food and fair trade products.

 

 

 

 

Bilingual Lecture on creating sustainable cities (Saturday,  3pm, Green Room A)

The world’s cities account for 70 percent of greenhouse gas production. Professor Tao Kuang Hua, Shanghai College Green Volunteer Group leader,  will explain his ecological urban development theory.

 

 

Urban Chic ecoFashion Show  (Saturday, 5:30pm, Green Room A)

Watch as models parade a procession of eco-conscious outfits, designed by the students from the Raffles Design Institute and made from environmentally friendly material. 

CoolQi Bike Ride (Sunday, 2:00pm, meet on Jiashan Lu)

Round off the weekend with a cycling trip through the city, ending up at Anken Green, where Shanghai’s new generation of street bikes are on display.
